Anxiety & Stress
Biblical Help for an Anxious Mind
By Marie Denton · May 12, 2026

Telling an anxious mind to calm down has never worked well. Worry is persistent because it feels responsible — as though holding the fear is what keeps the feared thing away.
Christian counseling offers a place to look at that honestly, without shame, and to bring both Scripture and practical steps to it.
Separate what is yours from what is not
Much anxiety comes from carrying outcomes that were never ours to carry. Philippians 4:6-7 does not ask us to pretend we are unafraid; it asks us to bring the fear somewhere specific, with thanksgiving, and it promises peace that guards the heart.
Give worry a time and a place
Worry that roams freely all day is exhausting. Writing concerns down, praying through them at a set time, and returning to ordinary tasks in between gives the mind a boundary it can learn.
Tend the ordinary things
Sleep, rest, movement, food, margin, and community are not spiritual afterthoughts. They are often where relief begins. If your worry is severe, persistent, or affecting your health, speaking with a licensed medical or mental-health professional is a wise and good step.
TEC Counseling provides Christian, faith-based counseling and spiritual guidance. Services are religious in nature and are not a substitute for clinical mental-health or medical care. TEC Counseling does not diagnose or treat mental-health disorders. When appropriate, clients may be encouraged to seek care from licensed medical or mental-health professionals.
