Boundaries

Healthy Boundaries Are a Form of Love

By Marie Denton · March 9, 2026

Many sincere Christians confuse boundaries with selfishness. In practice, the absence of boundaries usually produces resentment, exhaustion, and eventually distance — none of which serve anyone well.

A boundary describes you, not them

A boundary is not an attempt to control another person's behavior. It is a clear statement of what you will do, and it is far more sustainable than repeated pleading.

Start with one clear, kind sentence

Clarity delivered kindly is rarely cruel. Most people find that a single, well-chosen sentence, held consistently, changes a relationship more than months of arguing.

TEC Counseling provides Christian, faith-based counseling and spiritual guidance. Services are religious in nature and are not a substitute for clinical mental-health or medical care.
